What you see here are hand carved and hand printed, limited edition artworks. Lino printing is a direct descendant of wood cut, from the earliest days printing. A flat surface, a block, is drawn on then cut and gouged to incise a shape and pattern. The flat surface that’s left is rolled over with ink, paper placed on top and then put through a press or in some cases simply rubbed with the back of a spoon. To get more than one colour the same surface is cut again, working from light ink colour to dark, reducing the surface area of the block. Hence the term ‘reduction’ print.

These pieces reflect where I live and some of my travels. Walking and experiencing the sounds, smells and weather is vital in understanding a particular place.
